Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a role where your expertise will influence strategic decision-making and make a real difference to local communities?

At STAR Housing, we manage around 4,000 homes across Shropshire and are committed to providing quality homes and vibrant communities. We are now looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team and play a key role in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of both STAR Housing and Cornovii Developments Ltd.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with strategic financial planning and business partnering.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial accounting services whilst leading the development and maintenance of business plans that support long-term organisational sustainability. You’ll provide insightful financial analysis, forecasting and modelling to inform strategic decisions and help us plan for future challenges and opportunities.

You’ll be involved in a broad range of responsibilities including:

• Leading financial planning and business plan development for the Housing Revenue Account and Cornovii Developments Ltd.
• Producing management accounts, forecasts and financial reports.
• Supporting strategic decision-making through financial modelling and analysis.
• Managing VAT, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Leading on year-end accounts and supporting audit activities.
• Supporting budget setting, rent setting and business plan refresh processes.
• Monitoring financial performance and cash flow.
• Line managing the Financial Accounts Assistant and contributing to the wider development of the finance function.

We’re looking for a proactive and analytical finance professional who can balance attention to detail with a strategic outlook.

You will be someone who:

• Has strong financial accounting and reporting experience.
• Can interpret complex financial information and communicate it clearly.
• Enjoys using data and financial insight to support decision-making.
• Has experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Understands financial governance, controls and compliance requirements.
• Builds positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Shares our commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
