Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and resilient individual to provide leadership and direction to the Technical Services function. This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for the operational equipment required to support the Services’ vision of ‘Making Shropshire Safer’ and priorities in our Community Risk Management Plan.

What Will You Be Doing?

Reporting to the Head of Resources, this exciting role will oversee the provision and maintenance of PPE, operational, and specialist equipment. You will work closely with key stakeholders to identify future equipment requirements, develop specifications, and explore procurement options. This role demands highly effective interpersonal abilities, including the capacity to lead and motivate teams while building positive, influential relationships both within the organisation and externally.

Ideally, applicants will have experience – preferably within the Fire and Rescue or other Emergency Services sectors – managing the provision and maintenance of PPE, operational, and specialist equipment in a safety‑critical environment.

Candidates should hold relevant qualifications in a business, technical, or engineering discipline, along with a recognised Health and Safety qualification, as outlined in the Person Specification. Proven experience in procurement, stock and inventory management, and the ability to use ICT tools effectively to deliver this function are also essential.
