Respiratory Nurse Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide hospital-based care and support for patients with respiratory disorders.
• Collaborate with all healthcare professionals to deliver a seamless care package for patients with chronic respiratory disorders.
• Advise management, facilitate early discharge, and provide educational support for patients admitted with exacerbations of airway disease.
• Provide expert care for patients with complex respiratory needs.
• Apply evidence-based, patient-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist interventions.
• Regularly liaise with the multidisciplinary team in managing and caring for respiratory patients.
• Act as a role model and advocate for the specialist service through effective leadership and as an advisory expert in respiratory care.
• Support patients and carers by providing verbal and written information, education, advice, and relevant contact numbers for ongoing support.
• Attend appropriate professional updates for self-development and to enhance the respiratory service.
• Review respiratory patients in clinics and acute ward settings, including new and repeat contacts diagnosed with various respiratory conditions.
