Domestic Cleaner

Smallbrook School, Shrewsbury, SY4 3HE

20 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 3pm - 7pm

£11,660 per annum (not pro rata)

We're looking for a dedicated Domestic Cleaner to join our friendly team and play an essential role in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment where children and young people can thrive. This is much more than a cleaning role – you'll be helping to ensure our pupils have a safe, healthy and comfortable environment to learn and grow every day.

Please note:

• Term Time:
  Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 7:00pm
• Employees are also required to work the equivalent of two weeks during school holiday periods.
• Holiday working dates will be agreed in advance and may involve longer shifts (for example 9:00am – 5:00pm) to complete contracted hours over fewer working days.

• Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness across allocated areas of the school
• Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitising and cleaning classrooms, offices and communal areas
• Emptying bins and managing waste disposal
• Following cleaning schedules and health & safety procedures
• Supporting a safe, caring and healthy environment for children and young people
• Reporting any maintenance or health & safety concerns to the Facilities Manager

• Has previous cleaning experience within a school environment (essential)
• Holds a full UK driving licence (essential)
• Takes pride in delivering high standards of cleanliness
• Is reliable, organised and able to work efficiently
• Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team
• Understands the importance of maintaining a safe environment for children and young people

Smallbrook School is currently increasing capacity from 50 students to 80 and has a large investment in our school site developing KS2 and sixth‑form provision. We are a co‑educational day school catering for pupils aged 7‑18 with a range of complex needs including social, emotional and mental health needs and pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism.

You will contribute to making Smallbrook School an outstanding provision for our young people and their families. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment and are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

The school is based halfway between Shrewsbury and Wem in Shropshire.
