Overview
A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for a forward‑thinking registered Dental Nurse to join The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital, working alongside and supporting an interdisciplinary team of Orthodontic consultants, Maxillofacial consultants, DCTs, Orthodontic therapists and hygienists.
QualificationsCertificate in dental nursing and registration with the GDC, together with experience working in a dental setting.
Employment DetailsPart‑time role of 34.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Support an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and development of high levels of clinical skills.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
- Participate in team building and communication to develop and consolidate a cohesive and supportive team.
- Communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relatives/carers, nurse colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered accurately and efficiently.
- Receive sensitive information concerning patients’ medical condition and deal with nervous/anxious patients.
- Identify, discuss and report any relevant nursing or patient needs with team, ward staff and patients.
- Work in partnership with the patient, family and other health‑care professionals in care delivery.
- Provide support and advice to patients and relatives when faced with distressing situations.
- Accept responsibility; be aware of and able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and adhere to them both personally and as a colleague.
- Maintain good communication skills, both verbally and in formal documentation and electronic (I.T.) sources, with all members of the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
- Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care in line with Trust policies.
- Adhere to Trust policies pertaining to patient confidentiality, the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Recommendations.
