QualificationsTo be successfully recruited into this role, you will need technical skills and qualifications, as the technologist will require an understanding of inspections and test procedures relating to maintenance.
Responsibilities- Provide routine servicing, acceptance checks and repairs on medical devices including hospital beds, trollies and couches across the department's portfolio for the lifetime of the devices – commissioning through to disposal.
- Provide cover during annual leave and sickness at either site within the organisation.
- Help check, fix and look after medical equipment used in hospitals and clinics.
- Ensure equipment is safe to use and works properly.
- Keep records of the work and help order parts when needed.
- Work in different places and sometimes help other team members.
- Follow safety rules and wear protective gear when needed.
- Attend training to learn new skills and keep up to date with changes in technology.
Medical Engineering Scope is approximately 35,000 medical devices of which approximately 21,000 belong to the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust. The department is split between two main sites (The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford). The department also is responsible for service and maintenance support for the Renal Dialysis service in Shropshire, which includes three Renal Units plus a cohort of home patients.
Medical Engineering provides a wide range of maintenance services to Shropshire and the surrounding regions. Medical Engineering Services (MES) also services external contracts including some private customers.
