Job Description & How to Apply Below
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process, including first-off, in-process, final and goods-in inspection, while working closely with production to maintain quality and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision engineered components. Perform goods-in inspection of purchased parts and materials. Inspect components using a variety of manual measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges and thread gauges.
Conduct hardness testing using Vickers and Rockwell equipment. Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Complete inspection documentation accurately. Support the Technical & Quality Manager with maintaining quality standards and procedures. Assist with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements. Work closely with production to resolve quality issues. Use Microsoft Office and internal databases to record inspection results. Operate a manual CMM where required (training can be provided).
About You You will ideally have previous experience within a Quality Inspection role in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment and possess a strong eye for detail. A recognised engineering apprenticeship or engineering qualification (Level 2, ONC, HNC or equivalent) would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant industry experience are encouraged to apply. You should have a good understanding of manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, gear cutting, fabrication or assembly, together with knowledge of engineering materials and heat treatment processes.
Experience using a wide range of metrology equipment is essential, while previous exposure to manual CMM inspection and ISO 9001:2015 would be beneficial. Strong communication skills, good organisational ability and confidence working both independently and as part of an experienced engineering team are key to succeeding in this role. What's on Offer? Permanent, full-time position. Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm.
Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm. 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. Company pension scheme. Full training on company-specific products and inspection processes. Long-term career opportunity with an established and financially secure engineering manufacturer. If you're an experienced Quality Inspector looking for a secure role with a respected engineering business, Contek Recruitment Solutions would be delighted to discuss this opportunity with you in confidence.
