Full-Time | Agency | Hybrid Working Shropshire Council is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their well-established UASC & Pathways Team , supporting young people aged 16 who are Looked After and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) . This is a vital service focused on helping young people transition into adulthood with the independence, security, and support they need for a successful future.

You will be part of an Outstanding Local Authority , known for providing strong leadership, excellent supervision, and a safe and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities Support and advocate for Looked After Children 16 as they prepare for adulthood Complete pathway plans and ensure young people have access to the right services Progress immigration applications , working with specialist partners to secure legal status Manage a mixed caseload of UASC and non-UASC young people for role variation Ensure statutory responsibilities are met in line with Children's Social Care legislation Use creative, strengths-based practice to achieve permanence and stability Requirements Qualified Social Worker - Degree/Diploma in Social Work Social Work England registration

Experience with UASC, CLA, Pathway Planning or Leaving Care services Sound knowledge of asylum processes, risk assessment, and safeguarding legislation Strong communication, advocacy, and multi-disciplinary working skills Commitment to supporting vulnerable young people to achieve independence Ideal candidates will have a strong background working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children , Care Leavers , or Looked After Children (CLA) within children's social care teams.

Experience in pathway planning , immigration and asylum applications , permanence planning , and transition to adulthood services is highly desirable. Social Workers with expertise in 16 teams , UASC social worker roles , or agency social work positions in the West Midlands will be well-matched to this opportunity, particularly those seeking competitive £33.30 p/h umbrella assignments and a stable environment within an Outstanding Local Authority .
