Intensive Housing Management Officer

Shropshire

£23 per hour

Interim 3–6 months

The Role

You’ll join a dedicated Intensive Housing Management team providing proactive tenancy sustainment, property management and resident support across Temporary Accommodation and Independent Living settings. Your work will help residents maintain their accommodation, understand their responsibilities, and move towards greater independence.

This is a varied, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You’ll be the main point of contact for tenants, delivering tenancy sign-ups, inductions, regular reviews and early interventions to prevent tenancy issues. You’ll also carry out property inspections, ensure health & safety compliance, and work closely with contractors and internal teams to maintain safe, secure homes.

Key Responsibilities

· Act as the primary housing contact for residents in Temporary Accommodation and Independent Living schemes.

· Deliver tenancy onboarding, reviews and ongoing support to help residents sustain their homes.

· Monitor rent accounts and service charges, supporting tenants to maintain regular payments.

· Address tenancy breaches early, including ASB, property misuse or non-engagement.

· Carry out regular property inspections, reporting repairs and ensuring compliance with fire, gas and health & safety standards.

· Provide day-to-day support around benefits, budgeting, employment, wellbeing and accessing external services.

· Work with vulnerable households including those experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse, substance misuse or mental health challenges.

· Build strong relationships with internal teams and external agencies, attending multi-agency meetings where required.

· Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service performance targets and continuous improvement.

About You

You’ll bring experience in housing management, homelessness or supported housing, along with strong knowledge of tenancy law, welfare benefits and housing-related support. You’ll be confident working with vulnerable people in a non-judgmental, empowering way and able to manage a busy caseload with professionalism and empathy.

Essential skills include:

· Experience in housing, homelessness or supported housing.

· Knowledge of tenancy law and welfare benefits.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Organised, proactive and able to work independently.

· Ability to work with vulnerable people sensitively and effectively.

Desirable:

· Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.

· Experience with in a local authority or social housing setting.

· Access to a vehicle for site visits.
