Shropshire Council is seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join its Fostering Service and play a key role in supporting foster carers across the county.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dedicated fostering team, providing supervision, guidance, and professional support to foster carers to help achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
Rate:
From £28.55 per hour Umbrella
Working Pattern:
Hybrid Working
Key Responsibilities
Provide ongoing supervision, support, and challenge to foster carers.
Conduct regular home visits and maintain strong professional relationships with fostering households.
Lead annual foster carer reviews and contribute to fostering panel requirements where appropriate.
Deliver trauma-informed training and development opportunities for foster carers.
Ensure compliance with fostering regulations and National Minimum Standards (NMS).
Act as the key professional link between foster carers and Children's Services.
Support placement stability and positive outcomes for children and young people in care.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to high-quality fostering practice.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Proven experience working within a Fostering Team.
Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, safeguarding procedures, and National Minimum Standards.
Excellent assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Shropshire.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. A DBS check may be applicable for this role, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules
