Software Developer – Java / JEE / Java Frameworks (SC Cleared)

Shrewsbury (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)

Duration: 12 months

Rate: Up to £540 per day (PAYE only)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance required

We are looking for an experienced Software Developer / Engineer to join a critical technology team supporting large-scale tax administration services. The role focuses on the delivery, stability, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications, working with modern Java frameworks and robust database technologies in a highly collaborative environment.

• Software Development
• Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java and PL/SQL
• Build and enhance services and components using Spring Boot
• Ensure solutions meet established engineering standards and best practices
• Integration & System Support
• Deploy, support, and maintain applications running on Web Logic
• Collaborate with team members to integrate new functionality effectively
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, including defects and performance concerns
• Quality & Collaboration
• Take part in peer code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work closely within a cross-functional delivery team
• Provide technical support and guidance where required

• Active SC Clearance (mandatory)
• Strong experience with PL/SQL development
• Proven hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience deploying and supporting applications on Web Logic
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced delivery environment

• Experience working on large, complex enterprise systems
• Familiarity with structured delivery methodologies or Agile environments
• Ability to understand, maintain, and enhance existing code bases
• Strong communication and documentation skills
