Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join Shropshire Council's Passenger Transport Group and play a leading role in shaping the future of public transport across one of England's largest rural counties. The team delivers a wide range of transport services, including local bus services, Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), school and college transport, helping connect communities to employment, education, healthcare and essential services.

As Public Transport Development Coordinator, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of Shropshire's supported local bus network. Working closely with transport operators, elected Members, communities and internal teams, you will design and review bus services, analyse performance data, develop innovative transport solutions and oversee the implementation of network changes that deliver real benefits for residents.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys turning strategic objectives into practical service improvements. You will join a supportive and collaborative team where innovation, partnership working and continuous improvement are actively encouraged.

We are looking for an experienced and analytical professional with a background in transport, logistics, service planning or public service delivery. You will have experience of developing or improving services, analysing performance data and using evidence to support decision-making.

You will be a confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, capable of building productive relationships with operators, partners and colleagues to deliver successful outcomes. Experience of leading projects, implementing service changes and coordinating teams or staff is essential.

You will be organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on customer outcomes, value for money and continuous improvement. Knowledge of local bus services, Demand Responsive Transport or local authority transport services would be advantageous but is not essential.
