Chartered Building Surveyor SE London (Sidcup) up to £65k + benefits

We are an established, independent, multi-disciplined practice specialising in educational, commercial, public sector and private housing projects.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Surveyor to join our small, successful Consultancy. An excellent opportunity for a driven professional who is ready to hit the ground running, with strong industry knowledge and demonstrable experience managing building projects from inception to completion.

The successful candidate will support our established client base and be encouraged to contribute to business development initiatives. They will be required to identify new opportunities and take full ownership of project delivery across a diverse client portfolio.

We are seeking a proactive team player with a positive, “can-do” attitude, strong commercial awareness and ambition to contribute meaningfully to a growing practice.

Applicant Requirements
  • Degree in Building Surveying accredited by RICS with Chartered status (MRICS/FRICS) or minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience.
  • Sound technical knowledge with significant building surveying experience.
  • Well-developed expertise in surveys, repairs and maintenance.
  • Client management experience and commercial awareness with a clear understanding of expectations, profitability and business development.
  • Sound knowledge of drafting technical documentation.
  • Contract Administration experience.
  • Experience and understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, Party Wall Matters and Building Regulation legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills with a commercially astute mindset and commitment to delivery.
  • Full UK driver’s licence.
  • Ideally experienced in the education, local government and healthcare sectors
Duties Include
  • Working across multiple projects providing a full range of building surveying services.
  • Use and application of JCT Standard Forms of Building Contract.
  • Undertaking surveys, inspections and schedules, providing professional services and managing schemes.
  • Ensuring projects and professional appointments are delivered on budget and on schedule.
  • Acting as Contract Administrator, including preparing tender documentation, advising on contractor and designer appointments and procurement routes.
  • Assessing the condition of existing buildings, identifying and analysing defects and proposing remedial solutions.
  • Advising building maintenance management and supervision.
  • Undertaking feasibility studies.
  • Advising on the Health and Safety matters relating to buildings.
  • Managing Party Wall procedures.
  • Maintaining effective communication to ensure all efficient financial control and successful project delivery.
  • Delivering accurate and timely work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Representing the company professionally in meetings, negotiations and client relationship management.
  • Working closely with and supporting the Directors, support business development initiatives and help drive the continued growth of the practice.
