Are you currently training as a counsellor and looking to gain valuable clinical experience within a supportive higher education environment?
Rose Bruford College is seeking a Placement/ Trainee Counsellor to join our Student Life team. This placement offers the opportunity to work directly with students in a specialist creative arts institution while developing your counselling skills under professional supervision.
About the RoleAs a Trainee Counsellor, you will provide short-term, one-to-one counselling to students, supporting their wellbeing and helping them navigate the challenges of student life. You will gain practical experience in a diverse and dynamic higher education setting while working within established safeguarding, confidentiality and ethical frameworks.
The College will arrange and fund monthly clinical group supervision to support your professional development and placement requirements.

- Deliver short-term, one-to-one counselling sessions to students
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with College procedures
- Attend monthly supervision sessions
- Participate in case discussions and reflective practice activities
- Raise safeguarding concerns appropriately and promptly
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical practice standards
- You will:
Be currently enrolled on a recognised counselling qualification (Level 4 or above) - Have completed the academic requirements necessary to begin a clinical placement
- Demonstrate an understanding of the BACP Ethical Framework (or equivalent)
- Be open to supervision, feedback and reflective practice
- Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check
- An interest in supporting neurodivergent and disabled students
- An understanding of the unique challenges faced by students in creative arts education
- Experience in working with students from LGBTQA+
