Sing Education is a leading provider of high‑quality music education in schools. We look for reliable, confident, and inspirational teachers to lead small group and one‑to‑one lessons in violin, piano or guitar (Grade 6 or higher). Applicants should hold a degree in music or a related field and have a commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Location & HoursTeaching takes place in primary schools across Greater London, Slough, Kent, and North Yorkshire. Sessions run during school hours (09:00‑14:30) and involve a one‑hour music club at 15:20‑16:20. Hours may vary from one to five days per week.
Rate of Pay£23–£27 per hour (freelance basis).
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver music lessons for primary pupils.
- Lead small groups up to five students and one‑to‑one sessions.
- Use singing and instrumental accompaniment to support learning.
- Attend and engage in Sing Education training, induction and team meetings.
- Represent the organisation professionally within schools.
- Maintain and monitor pupils’ progress and report as required.
- University graduate with a good degree in music or a related field.
- Evidence of further professional development.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or in the process of achieving it.
- Strong singing voice and confidence in using the voice to support learning.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability to lead small‑group and one‑to‑one lessons.
- Basic keyboard skills if piano is not the primary instrument.
- ICT literacy and competence in G Suite and other communication platforms.
- Experience with Kodály or Dalcroze teaching practices.
- Ability to accompany on piano or guitar for choir, assemblies and performances.
- Experience teaching in primary schools and/or working with children with SEND.
- Experience leading music workshops.
- High enthusiasm for music and passion for pupils.
- Effective discipline and classroom management skills.
- Team working ability with both Sing Education and in‑school teams.
- Confidentiality and professionalism.
- Sense of humour.
- Strong organisational skills and communication.
- Commitment to personal and organisational development.
Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. All staff are required to read and adhere to the Sing Education Child Protection Policy, and to complete the necessary safeguarding training.
