Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Due to the operational demands of the service, successful candidates would need to be able to work across the borough of Bexley. Car drivers are essential for this role.

As a Community Nursery Nurse working in Bexley, you will provide high quality face to face contacts for children and their families, working in a diverse borough following the Healthy Child Programme.

Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will work within the Bexley 0 to 19 public health nursing service to support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme to children as delegated by and under the supervision of the Health Visitor/ Locality Lead Nurses, whilst working closely with all members of the skill mixed team.
The successful candidate will deliver universal and targeted interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of the 0-4 population and their families. These programmes will be delivered in line with the National and Local guidelines and public health priorities.
Working proactively and using a partnership approach to promote health and wellbeing, and contributing to tackling health inequalities.
The post holder will work with children, young people and families within a variety of community settings such as Children's Centres, Early Years settings, Health Centres, or within the home environment, across the London borough of Bexley.

Jobresponsibilities
- To support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme for children 0 to 19 and their families as delegated by and under the supervision of the Health Visitor/Locality Lead Nurse.
- To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and to adhere to the Bromley Healthcare Safeguarding Children Policy and Local Safeguarding Children Board Policies and Procedures.
- To carry out developmental checks as delegated by and under the supervision of the Health Visitor/Locality Lead Nurse
- To work with targeted families providing advice and support in response to identified health, social or special needs in the home and other venues as delegated by and under the supervision of the Health Visitor/Locality Lead Nurse.
- To be responsible for own work ensuring effective liaison and regular updates with the Health Visitor/Locality Lead Nurse who delegated the piece of work.
- To participate in child health clinics and clinic appointments in conjunction with the Health Visitor/Locality Lead Nurse.
- To promote breastfeeding as per Bromley Healthcare Policies working to and maintain Baby Friendly accreditation
- To offer advice to parents and carers on the development, health and behaviour of their child, discussing any concerns with the Health Visitor/Skill mix team and to refer to other services as directed and appropriate in line with policy.
- To deliver home visits to support parenting, development, health and behaviour of their child as delegated by and under the supervision of the Health Visitor
- Facilitate health promotion sessions and deliver activities in a variety of settings on local public health priorities
- To be sensitive to the cultural, physical emotional, intellectual and social needs of children and families and to promote positive family life in the local community.
- To encourage parents/carers to participate in all aspects of play and development with their children. To advise parents/carers on suitable play activities and age appropriate toys.
