Job Description Summary

The Wastewater Treatment Plant is a division of the Utility Department of the Public Works Group. The Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator reports directly to the Wastewater Treatment Superintendent. The role involves performing all field sampling events for the Industrial Pretreatment Program (IPP) and maintaining sampling equipment. It also includes inspecting industrial customers, preparing notices of violations, compiling regulatory reports, maintaining the Synexus Pretreatment database, and administering the City’s Storm Water Monitoring Program when not engaged in pretreatment activities.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field sampling events for the IPP and maintain all sampling equipment.
  • Inspect industrial customers, prepare notices of violations, and prepare regulatory reports.
  • Maintain the Synexus Pretreatment database.
  • Administer the City’s Storm Water Monitoring Program when not involved in pretreatment activities.
  • Assist industrial users with sampling and compliance, and work with them to achieve compliance.
  • Identify significant industrial users and correctly apply regulations.
  • Work independently for extended periods and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Maintain residency as required by City policy.
Qualifications
  • Ohio EPA Class II Wastewater Reclamation Operator’s License preferred and five (5) years of experience in the wastewater treatment profession.
  • Experience with laboratory testing, analytical techniques, and specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Experience in the environmental field and reading, interpreting, and applying federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Associate’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental health and safety, or a closely related field.
  • Combination of education, certifications, training, and experience may be considered.
