Senior/Lead Supplier Quality Engineer (NPD)

Join our team in Sidney, Ohio, and grow your career as a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) for New Product Development (NPD) initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Attend NPD meetings (weekly Engineering & Team meetings, FMEA, Gate Reviews, Design Reviews) and represent SQE.
- Present status of SQE responsibilities such as PPAP approval status and corrective actions to all management levels.
- Coordinate Commodity SQE involvement as needed.
- Assist Procurement Program Manager to ensure adequate design, print and technical reviews occur with suppliers and Commodity SQEs for new outsourced parts.
- Provide input on part manufacturability and improvement suggestions to Copedland Product/Design Engineering; involve Commodity SQEs for DFM input.
- Maintain project & PPAP status list of new and changed part numbers for assigned programs.
- Communicate upcoming milestones to Commodity SQEs to maintain overall project schedule.
- Prepare presentations as required to communicate program status to various levels of the organization.
You understand stakeholder requirements, persist in achieving objectives, and maintain a track record of exceeding goals while helping others succeed. You communicate effectively in one‑on‑one, small and large group settings, adjusting your style to fit diverse audiences.
Required Education, Experience & Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field plus five (5) years of experience, or equivalent education/experience combination.
- Quality engineering experience with knowledge of APQP, Flow Charting, Control Plans, FMEA, DFM, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R), Problem Solving, Corrective Action, Process Improvement Techniques, Quality Systems (ISO 9000 and/or TS16949).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes used in relevant commodities.
- Travel up to 15% within North America.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering plus ten (10) years of experience.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Certifications in ASQ (CQA, CQE, CQM).
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent.
- Broad knowledge of several manufacturing processes.
- Quality Auditing (Systems and processes).
- Advanced statistics, problem solving, and process improvement techniques.
- Broad knowledge of Copeland LP products such as product function, application, customer expectations, and material properties.
This role is hybrid eligible with a requirement to be in the office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration‑first mindset, adjusting hybrid days based on business needs to foster meaningful connections and support customers.
About Our LocationThe Sidney, OH campus is a 1 M‑square‑foot manufacturing facility with an additional 120 k sq ft of advanced lab space, serving as the headquarters for the HVACR Americas business unit. The area offers a low cost of living, excellent schools, and a family‑friendly environment.
