Description:
Wilson Health's Emergency Department is a 20-bed ED unit with 14 cardiac-monitored beds. The ED has received national recognition for exceptionally quick treatment release times for patients.
The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) prepares and compiles records in the nursing unit of a hospital facility and provides essential patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Responsible for the computer entry of patient information/registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensure the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.
- Ensure open and timely communication with the patient, their significant others, and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.
- Under the direction of the RN/LPN, assist in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on the assigned unit, which includes young–middle aged adults and geriatric patients.
- Under the direction of the RN/LPN, carry out assigned treatments and procedures.
- Provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth, and the individuality of human beings.
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months of related hospital experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support.
