Department
Description:
Wilson Health’s Respiratory Therapy Department works under physician orders to provide breathing treatments and services for patients with asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, AIDS, and other respiratory conditions. The team also cares for premature infants and accident victims.
Job Summary: Evaluate cardiopulmonary function, treat cardiopulmonary impairment, assess treatment effectiveness, and provide care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, administer, and monitor all oxygen/humidity delivery devices and therapeutic modalities (masks, cannulas, face tents, trach masks, t‑pieces).
- Set up and administer treatment modalities: medicated aerosols, IPV, incentive spirometry, chest physical therapy, sputum induction, continuous nebulizer therapy, and metered‑dose inhalers.
- Set up and monitor mechanical ventilation and non‑invasive mask ventilation; perform airway management and tracheal suctioning as needed.
- Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, endotracheal intubation, and extubation.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as blood gases, electrocardiograms, pulse oximetry, peak‑flow monitoring, EEGs, and pulmonary function testing.
- Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans per guidelines, and communicate changes with the healthcare team.
- Perform daily maintenance and related procedures on blood gas analyzers.
- Clean and maintain equipment daily, weekly, or monthly; assemble, inspect, and test all equipment for safe, efficient operation.
Qualifications:
- Ohio Medical Board license.
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification.
- Diploma from a college‑based respiratory program.
- NBRC registry or eligibility for registry.
