Safety Associate
Apply for the Safety Associate role at Schwan's Company at our Sidney, Ohio facility. Starting pay is $21.00 per hour with an additional $1.50 shift differential from 2:30 pm to 4:00 am. The shift is 4:00 am–12:30 pm, and this is a full‑time position in the EHS (Safety) Department, supervised by the EHS Manager and supported by the Manufacturing Manager and the site management team.

- Inspect machinery processes and procedures to ensure good health and safety practices.
- Work with contractors and ensure safety policies are followed.
- Monitor the production line and verify workers follow safety rules.
- Conduct daily safety training for new and current employees.
- Deliver safety training on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.).
- Conduct Environmental inspections as directed by the EHS Manager.
- Examine machinery, working environments, and structures, taking measurements of noise, heat, and vibrations, and capturing photographs and samples when necessary.
- Ensure workers have suitable protective equipment, such as ear protection or appropriate types of gloves and clothing.
- Investigate procedures for working in hazardous environments or with potentially harmful substances.
- Investigate accidents and complaints.
- Report on results of inspections and investigations.
- Participate as a member of the facility Confined Space Entry Team and Hazardous Materials Response Team.
- Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
- Education:
High School Diploma. - Experience:
Production experience preferred. - Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Intermediate personal computer skills including Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and reasoning skills to provide a positive work environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to learn and use safety computer system. Bilingual language skills are a plus. - Perform all duties in compliance with existing USDA, OSHA, State, Federal, and company regulations, policies and procedures (including Good Manufacturing Practices and safety regulations).
- Stand and walk on concrete for long periods of time.
- Work in a wide range of temperatures and conditions while being exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as bump cap, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety shoes or rubber boots.
- Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
