Aircraft Mechanic V – Join TSC to support Flight & Ground Operations of a developmental aircraft in the Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (AISR) Division. The role requires a strong background in both manned and unmanned aircraft systems, acute attention to detail, and exceptional troubleshooting skills for aircraft from development through operational phases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on manned and unmanned aircraft, including airframes, engines, avionics, line‑replaceable units (LRU), and other system components.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective or malfunctioning parts and systems.
  • Support development and testing phases of new technologies and configurations.
  • Conduct inspections of aircraft systems in compliance with regulatory requirements and company safety standards.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of aircraft for flight tests, demonstrations, and operational missions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for all aircraft.
  • Collaborate with engineering to address technical issues and implement solutions throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in proper working condition and meet safety standards.
  • Support operational personnel during pre‑flight and post‑flight procedures as required.
  • Oversee daily operations of aircraft maintenance and flight line activities.
  • Ensure compliance with flight & ground procedures, training procedures, and standardization & evaluation procedures.
  • Maintain worksite safety and complete digital & paper logbooks, maintenance records, FOD and tool control, Technical Orders, and part accounting.
  • Execute work calendars, support internal audits, and participate in performance reviews.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and briefings for the ADO and engineering/production teams.
  • Maintain access to and compliance with COMSEC requirements.
  • Assist in tracking consumables and recording maintenance failures.
  • Monitor parts and tools usage, maintaining inventories and logs.
Required Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of airframe, power plant, electrical, mechanical, and RF systems, including troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with FAA flight and maintenance standards, airworthiness, and safety.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Technical Inspector in aviation mechanics.
  • Adherence to DCMA procedures and accurate logbook reporting.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance manuals, Technical Orders, and compliance procedures.
  • Commitment to FOD control program execution.
Required Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of aviation flight line procedures and maintenance operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent organization, planning, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Independence in a fast‑paced environment while collaborating effectively.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and apply industry standards (FAA/IACO) and ensure contract compliance.
  • Deep knowledge of vehicle systems, subsystems, and technical manuals.
  • Management of aircraft system maintenance logs with logisticians.
  • Potential to obtain Crew Chief Instructor designation after six months.
Computer Skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite; capable of creating documents, spreadsheets, and presentations swiftly.
  • Experience with technical writing and report preparation in Adobe.
  • Typing speed >30 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with digital maintenance logging and commercial/military logging requirements.
  • Understanding of MS Windows functions and ability to train others on digital maintenance resources.
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification and 7 years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Group 3‑5 UAS maintenance operations.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems (engines, avionics, flight controls, airframes).
  • Proficient mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior leadership experience in an aviation maintenance role.
  • Experience with Aircraft Technical Manuals.
  • Experience installing and maintaining electrical systems; troubleshooting electrical issues; reading diagrams and schematics.
  • Experience with developmental or experimental aircraft is a plus.
