This is an as Needed Part-Time Essential Services Position which may require day and/or night shifts to include weekends and holidays. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime under the Service Contract Act.
Hourly: $28.73/hr

Job SummaryOur Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agents. The linguist will transcribe source documents and recordings from storage media, including audio cassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities- Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
- Relate all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
- Contribute to a master list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
- Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
- Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor.
- Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
- Use the various reference tools created during the project.
- Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
- Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at the assigned site.
- Maintain daily log of productivity.
- Performs related duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years of experience in a professional setting OR an Associate degree with five (5) years of experience OR a High School Diploma with seven (7) years of experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language
- Subject to government background investigation; may need to meet eligibility requirements to access classified information.
- U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
- Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions; familiarity with SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, with correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Contract requirement: score of 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and ability to meet deadlines in a team environment.
- Ability to take technical direction and feedback;
Type at least 45 words per minute.

Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time. - Sitting:
Prolonged sitting while monitoring live or taped calls; may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating of calls.
