Classified Staff Opening
Reports To: Building Principal and Assigned Classroom Teacher
General Summary: To assist the student with personal and instructional needs throughout the school day and to provide a well-organized, smooth functioning environment in which the student can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
Essential Functions
- Assists student in accessing transportation if needed.
- Provides personal care to student with special daily living needs (e.g. toileting, feeding, physical management) if needed
- Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
- Refers problems to professional staff.
- Works with student in schools and in community sites and outings.
- Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
- Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
- Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes.)
- Assists with the supervision of student during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
- Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
- Exhibits the ability to follow teacher directions and written plans.
- Has the ability to work in a team setting and be flexible.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education Level - high school diploma
- Qualifications - Working well with students & Ability to follow the instruction of the teacher(s) to whom the aide is assigned.
- Other requirements – Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer knowledge and assistive technology.
