Construction Accounting Specialist

ER Contracting is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our residential and commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for job cost tracking, accounts payable and receivable, and maintaining accurate financial records using Quick Books Online and Excel. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting experience, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.

Perform full-cycle construction accounting, including job costing

Manage project cost tracking, budget analysis, and variance reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Process accounts payable and support accounts receivable functions

Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy

Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations

Monitor project billing, retainage, lien waivers, and subcontractor payments

Support month-end and year-end close processes

Collaborate with project managers on budgets, change orders, and forecasts

Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation

Support cash flow management and financial planning

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

Use Microsoft Excel to create and maintain job cost reports and financial models

Utilize automation and AI-powered tools where applicable to improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiency

Verifiable accounting experience in the construction industry (REQUIRED)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, financial tracking)

Experience with Quick Books Online Strong understanding of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient 10-key typing and data entry skills

Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using formulas (REQUIRED)

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience with accounts receivable and billing processes

Experience performing balance sheet reconciliations

Familiarity with journal entries and reconciliation processes

Experience in a multi-project construction environment CPA or CMA certification (a plus)
Experience leveraging automation or AI-driven tools to streamline accounting processes

Experience with tax preparation, filings, or working with business taxes is a plus
