Environmental Construction Division -- Superintendent

Dutiesand Responsibilities
The Project Superintendent is expected to plan, organize, schedule, provide oversight, produce work orders, and review tracking sheets for work completed on multiple jobs assigned to them. The Superintendent will be responsible for reading and understanding all specifications and plan sets for each assigned project. He/She may be responsible for various types of projects including, but not limited to; reforestation plantings, stream plantings, bioretention plantings, storm water management plantings, hydroseeding, tree preservation, erosion and sediment control, and bioengineering.
They will be required to successfully manage working with both large and small construction companies as well as county parks/complexes, government agencies and municipalities, homeowners, and inspectors within the DC/MD/VA region. The Superintendent will also need to coordinate meetings with the prime contractor and/or owners of the projects, communicate effectively both orally and by email, document communications and keep them organized and saved appropriately.
The Project Superintendent facilitates the logistics of projects working directly with project managers and the foreman and crew responsible for the installation. The candidate must have a strict focus on safety, quality, productivity, and profitability. The Superintendent is expected to carry‑out their responsibilities in accordance with applicable laws, environmental regulations, project specifications and company policies.
Education and Experience- 2–4‑year degree in Environmental Science/ (related field of study) OR 2 or more years of related field experience.
- Must have a valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to work 5 days per week and weekends (if necessary);
Saturdays in Spring and Fall. - Must be willing to learn and understand environmental processes (i.e., erosion and the role plants play in sediment control).
- Tree and shrub identification skills are necessary.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicant must be able to think critically and strategically especially when confronted with an immediate safety issue.
- A working knowledge of the Microsoft suite and Google platform.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Applicant must be self‑motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
- Must have MD Licensed Tree Expert (LTE), Professional Fertilizer Applicator Certificate (PFA), MDE Erosion and Sediment Control.
Training “Responsible Person (formerly Green Card) and MD DOT/SHA Erosion and Sediment Control Certification (Yellow Card) or the ability to get these certifications.
