- Assess, plan, and implement physical therapy care and treatment of patients in an effective and professional manner in accordance with Maryland State law and the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Practice and Ethics.
- Collaborate with physicians, medical professionals, staff and families to ensure quality care.
- Provide assessment and care for patients of all ages, from neonates through geriatric patients.
- Utilize the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patients’ age to meet each patient’s unique needs.
- Receive additional training as required to work with specified patient groups according to department guidelines and best practice.
- Support the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.
Licensure/Certification Required
- Current Maryland license verified by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
- Current CPR certification.
- Graduate of an accredited school with a B.S., M.S. or D.P.T. degree in Physical Therapy.
- Adheres to the APTA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
- Ability to evaluate and treat patients in any hospital unit within professional scope of practice and proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Willingness and ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Proficiency in basic computer systems used for documentation, scheduling, and charging.
- Physical Requirements:
Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Ability to lift patients up to 35 pounds. - Visual Acuity:
Requires close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, transcribe, view a computer terminal, read extensively, inspect small defects, use measurement devices, and assemble or fabricate parts at close distances. - Environmental Conditions:
Exposure to hazards including moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, high heat, chemicals, and functioning in narrow aisles or passageways.
- Reports to and is evaluated by the Section Coordinator of Physical Therapy.
- Reports to and is evaluated by the Director of Physical Medicine.
- May be supervised by Charge Therapist or Lead Therapist.
- Assumes accountability and responsibility for the supervision of students, volunteers, and aides within the scope of the discipline.
