Department: Physician Practice - Primary Care
Status: Full‑time, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician and/or a registered nurse. Duties may include venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, vital sign measurement and documentation, assisting providers with patient exams, telephone and clerical support. Position may float to other sites within the system.

• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and quality and safety standards.
• Assists providers with patient preparation, examination and education.
• Participates in daily team huddles to review patient visits and screens patients for preventive care needs.
• Conducts motivational interviewing and identifies behavioral health needs.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory accreditation and quality/safety standards.
• Participates in population management activities and performance improvement initiatives.
• Performs selected patient and laboratory testing consistent with the scope of the practice.
• Verifies medication refills, pre‑authorizations and documents specimen processing.
• Provides telephone screening services and assists with patient discharge activities.
• Floats to other sites as appropriate.
• Attends scheduled meetings including safety, infection control, OSHA, CLIA, BLS training.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

• Less than 1 year 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care medical office required.
• Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred.
• Prior experience as a medical assistant preferred.

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) within 1 year required.
• CPR—Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 90 days required.

• Clinical competency verified within 90‑day orientation period and annually thereafter.
• Excellent customer service and patient interaction skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

This position has a hiring range of USD $19.55 – USD $34.25 /hr.
