Pharmacy Coordinator (340B) (PRN | As Needed) - (230002CK)

The 340B Coordinator will work with the 340B Program Manager to maintain the hospital's 340B drug program in an auditable state. Responsibilities include overseeing covered outpatient drug purchasing, inventory process & dispensing pattern reconciliation, analysis and trending of data, monthly reporting on savings opportunities, and split billing software maintenance. The Coordinator ensures compliance with all regulations and related interpretations, fully implements the program in all qualified use areas, audits, reviews, and monitors utilization records, and serves as liaison for 340B software vendors and wholesale distributors.

The role leads a multidisciplinary 340B Workgroup, reports to the 340B Executive Steering Committees, and oversees quality assurance and audits for 340B participating areas.

Qualifications Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting with an emphasis in healthcare highly preferred (Required) or relevant experience beyond the minimum required work experience may substitute the educational requirement on a 1-to-1 ratio.

Minimum Work Experience

0 Years (Required); 4 Years of experience (Preferred).

Required Licenses and Certifications

Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the District of Columbia (Required).

Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Experience and certifications in auditing, finance, or data analytics in healthcare settings acceptable in lieu of CPhT (Required).

Required Skills/Knowledge

Ability to maintain working knowledge of, manipulate, and extract data from multiple systems; proficiency in MS Excel and related data analysis skills.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to present data and program developments to multidisciplinary work group members and executive level steering committee members.

Experience in a healthcare setting required; experience in a pediatric setting preferred. 340B knowledge/training and/or pharmaceutical purchasing experience highly preferred.

Functional Accountabilities
  • Assure all use of 340B throughout the institution is fully compliant with all federal regulations and related interpretations for the program.
  • Ensure the institution is achieving maximum utilization of 340B pricing through full participation in all qualified areas with all applicable products to ensure greatest cost savings returns throughout the institution registries, quality improvement, and studies.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures related to 340B include the most efficient use of resources, and other costs of managing, monitoring, and fully participating in the program.
  • Coordinate all efforts and personnel involvement with regards to ongoing program operations, compliance oversight processes, audits, data requests, etc.
  • Manage drug selection, procurement, inventory control, and coordination of the 340B program.
  • Maintain system databases to reflect changes in the drug formulary or product specifications.
  • Manage and analyze purchasing, invoicing, receiving, and inventory control processes. Continuously monitor product min/max levels to effectively balance product availability and cost efficient inventory control. Assure appropriate safeguards and system integrity. Coordinate annual inventory and monthly cycle counts with purchasing staff.
  • Assure compliance with 340B program requirements of qualified patients, drugs, locations, and providers.
  • Review and refine monthly 340B cost savings report detailing purchasing and replacement practices, dispensing patterns, and internal audit results.
  • Monitor ordering processes, integrating most current pricing from wholesaler.
  • Prepare and analyze contract payment reconciliations based on cost reports and payment documentation.
  • Serve as intermediary between Pharmacy and Cerner IT for 340B related issues. Define financial reporting and information needs and coordinate any systems modifications with IT.
  • Monitor and assist in the maintenance/enhancement all third party 340B software program(s).
