The Development Coordinator supports their team to raise and steward funds for Children's National Hospital Foundation. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising campaigns, events, donor meetings, and donor deliverables, as well as supporting general team operations including donor tours, donor engagement events, donor communications, and other related activities.
Knowledgeable about funding priorities, the Coordinator leads presentations and conversations with donors and prospects, manages projects for donor engagement deliverables, and may manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with the expectation to maintain and grow relationships.
Other duties as assigned related to Children's National Hospital Foundation.
Minimum EducationBachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (Required).
Minimum Work Experience2 years of related experience (Required).
Experience and QualificationsExperience managing in‑person donor/volunteer communications (Required).
Prior development/fundraising experience (Required).
Prior experience with Raiser's Edge is a plus. Experience in a healthcare environment (Preferred).
Required Skills/KnowledgeGoal oriented, strong organizational skills, and communications and interpersonal skills.
Stamina, flexibility, courtesy, patience, positivity, and an enthusiastic team player are required.
Ability to adapt to constantly changing situations, to be creative, and to produce prompt and effective results.
Vehicle ownership is necessary for job assignments.
Availability for some evenings and weekends to attend and staff events.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint is required; proficiency in Raiser's Edge, Adobe Creative Suite, and Donor Drive is preferred.
Functional Accountabilities – Development- Assist in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors.
- Participate in in‑person or virtual visits with donors and prospects under management direction; may be involved in direct solicitation with a fundraising goal.
- Host tours for prospective donors and prospects to demonstrate the need for fundraising and steward previous giving.
- Manage post‑meeting and event donor stewardship and data clean‑up.
- Draft strategic fundraising materials, briefings, and presentations based on independently gathered information.
- Anticipate and respond to needs and requests from donors and the team; proactively assist and follow up until needs are met.
- Evaluate data generated from Raiser's Edge and online fundraising platforms for accuracy, and independently correct errors and analyze fundraising trends.
- Coordinate sections of large projects or entire small projects independently.
- Provide project‑management support to ensure deadlines are met, input is gathered from appropriate staff, and approvals are obtained.
- Provide project management for proposals, stewardship reports, donor communications, business plans, briefings, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
- Assist in entering and tracking donor information in Raiser's Edge to inform strategies and tactics.
- Provide high‑quality writing and editing assistance on proposals, reports, and correspondence.
- Anticipate and respond to customer needs; follow up until needs are met.
