General Summary of Position

Manages clinical operations at complex ambulatory sites or multiple sites. Oversees sites that include at least two unique complexities such as an Ambulatory Surgery Center with a full imaging suite and/or an urgent care location. Ensures clinical safety for at least 20 specialties, coordinates the clinical operations at a multi‑specialty office, supervises clinical staff, and develops, implements, and maintains clinical and operational policies and procedures in consultation with physicians and site managers.

Supports optimal patient flow, coordinates staff education for onboarding of new physicians/programs, and upholds Med Star Ambulatory Services’ commitment to world‑class compassionate care at every touchpoint.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as a mentor and leader, fostering a cohesive and productive work team.
  • Conduct staff meetings and ensure timely distribution of new developments, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the achievement of department goals, adhere to policies and quality standards, address roadblocks, and ensure compliance with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Ensure that clinical staff is thoroughly trained and competent to assist all physicians on site.
  • Monitor logs and ensure quality control while maintaining infection‑control standards.
  • Establish work schedules, delegate responsibilities, and accurately account for hours and paid time off.
  • Identify and address potential infection‑control needs.
  • Implement, develop, modify, and reinforce Med Star Ambulatory Services policies and procedures to ensure quality performance and cost reduction.
  • Interview, hire, evaluate performance, promote, and discipline staff in collaboration with the site manager.
  • Maintain a continuing education program, arranging in‑services and training opportunities.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and service‑improvement teams, committees, and community outreach efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Procure and manage unit equipment, instrumentation, and supplies; evaluate and recommend new equipment and instruments.
  • Promote an atmosphere of respect toward patients, families, vendors, employers, and co‑workers; act professionally at all times.
  • Provide training and conduct competency testing for clinical staff across all specialties; keep certificates current.
  • Report statistics, evaluate problems, and propose solutions for the office.
  • Resolve conflicts between patients, physicians, and staff independently or in consultation with physicians.
  • Support new clinical and service initiatives; embrace new technology and electronic health records.
  • Work with physicians and staff to minimize patient wait times by arranging appropriate coverage, maintaining optimal patient flow among all specialties, and seeking opportunities to improve care and patient experience.
  • Collaborate with the site manager and physicians to create an efficient practice and workflow.
Minimal Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • 3–4 years progressively responsible nursing and medical‑office practice in a busy multiple‑physician practice; ability to solve patient and staff problems required.
  • 1–2 years RN supervisory experience in a medical office or ambulatory health setting; knowledge of Joint Commission standards required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN – Registered Nurse – State licensure and/or Compact State licensure; valid RN license in Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia as required by work location.
  • CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (BLS and NRP) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days required.
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service/patient interaction skills; proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
  • High‑level problem‑solving skills; independent judgment relating to clinical care policy and procedure.

Hiring range: USD $ – $ per year.
