Position: Scientific, Oceanographic, and GIS Data Administration, Management, & Optimization

Overview

Scientific, Oceanographic, and GIS Data Administration, Management, & Optimization — Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) / Bering Dynamic Solutions, LLC. This contract position is in the Washington DC area (Silver Spring, MD). The agency operates a large IT environment and hosts real-time scientific, oceanographic, and geospatial applications to warn of pending storms and support marine navigation. A real-time COOP infrastructure is in the cloud (AWS) with potential for a hot or warm site.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain a highly reliable, secure and operationally optimized scientific and GIS data management system.
• Modernize and enhance CO-OPS DIS suite of software and add new capabilities for new products.
• Assist with updating and patching GIS server software and mitigate security findings.
• Develop new GIS-based applications, including assisting other developers with GIS related technical work.
• Assist in creating new GIS datasets and layers from existing data in a variety of formats.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated IT development experience.
• Develop, enhance and maintain existing CO-OPS software applications, and adhere to the CO-OPS’s change management and governance procedures.
• Experience working with users to derive application requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics

• AWS Cloud experience
• MS Office suite experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with senior level management both at the customer and corporate levels.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
