Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Operate, maintain, and repair groundwater extraction, treatment, and recharge systems at the Bangor Base in Silverdale WA. Responsibilities include day‑to‑day operations, maintenance, monitoring, and management of the groundwater remediation system. Training will be provided to work towards a Treatment Plant Operator status.

• Provide periodic cleaning and maintenance of the air stripping tower, equalization tank, groundwater extraction wells, effluent discharge swale, and connecting piping.
• Conduct routine maintenance such as hydro jetting underground piping, groundwater well development and cleaning, pressure washing, and cleaning/replacing filters.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs, equipment lubrication, electrical, and SCADA troubleshooting.
• Follow project plans to conduct tests and field investigations to gather data for environmental, engineering, and scientific personnel.
• Maintain and calibrate multi‑parameter meters, such as water quality and air quality meters.
• Collect samples from groundwater wells, surface water, raw and processed water, industrial wastewater, or other sources.
• Collect soil or sediment samples and ship them to laboratories.
• Conduct inspections, review institutional controls, and maintain facilities, including impervious covers, vegetated areas, fencing, signage, and shoreline conditions.

• 3+ years of experience in maintaining and repairing industrial systems with water pumps.
• Eligibility for a Navy DBIDS badge for base access.

• Preferred experience in HAZMAT or Wastewater operator related fields.
• Preferred experience in environmental testing or science.

This is a long‑term position with substantial support from management and the client. Employees enjoy a day shift schedule from Monday to Friday, with government holidays off, including additional holidays such as Juneteenth and Memorial Day. The company provides training for Water Treatment Operator certification, ensuring career growth opportunities.

The role is based onsite in an office attached to a small pump station near Gate 90, just outside the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island fence, and next to the landfill cap. Candidates must live within a reasonable distance to respond to any issues promptly. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with a day shift. The job involves working in the office and traveling to various plants or pumps throughout the grounds, with some locations being 20 minutes away.

Employees are standing and walking more than 50% of the time. A company truck is available for onsite use. exoeruience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Silverdale, WA.

The pay range for this position is $37.51 – $37.51/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Silverdale, WA.
