FIELD SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Job SummaryResponsible for design, installation, troubleshooting, asset management, configuration and support of all computerized information systems for assigned Navy Exchange activities.
Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for technical and logistical support; user services, and maintenance of telecommunication, network, Point of Sale, RF, and Desktop computing equipment, as well as dumb terminals, printers/multifunction devices and other related peripheral equipment.
- Performs capacity planning and analysis for new and currently installed networks.
- Installs and modifies network hardware and software as required.
- Installs and modifies desktop computing hardware and software as required.
- Implements new networks from design through post-installation stages including cable plants, installation, and testing.
- Responsible for documentation of, and ongoing asset management of, networks and all IT equipment in the region.
- Performs troubleshooting and repair of down or malfunctioning networks and equipment.
- Assists in performing ongoing optimization of networks and desktop computing systems in the region.
- Assists in minor computer operations maintenance and troubleshooting for Distribution Center servers, and provides support for Distribution Center conveyor equipment.
- Acts as Code I point of contact in the field for store, hospitality, and distribution center management.
- Provides oral and written reports to regional lead technician and Field Support Supervisor.
- Takes technical and operational direction from NEXCOM Field Support Supervisor and Regional Lead Technician.
- Ensures/implements the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Systems, Applications and/or Services (Hardware & Software).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Position DesignationDesignated IT-2 (Non-critical Sensitive) as per SECNAV M-5510.30. Requires a favorable Access National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI).

Department of the Navy (DON) Cyber Information Technology / Cybersecurity Workforce positions (Cyber IT/CSWF).
This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce Position in Specialty Area 41 and, as a condition of employment, incumbents of this position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program Requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:
- Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned.
- Per SECNAVINST 1543.2, Cyber IT/CSWF individuals shall participate annually in 20 hours of continuous learning (CL) activities to be documented in a current individual development plan (IDP) signed by both the employee and supervisor.
- Required Minimum Cybersecurity Credentials, in order of precedence, to qualify for the position are:

- A Signed Privileged Access Statement, and candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification and, if required, OS/CE certificate of training within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain this requirement will result in termination of employment.
