Job Description

Tessera is seeking detail‑oriented Maintenance Inspector to schedule and conduct inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor. This role ensures maintenance needs are identified early, safety standards are upheld, and all operations remain compliant with contractual, local, state, and federal regulations.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to identify maintenance needs and possible safety hazards.
  • Evaluate the condition of facilities and equipment and maintain accurate records of findings and recommended repairs.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team members to develop and prioritize actionable maintenance and repair plans.
  • Provide recommendations to maintenance shops and government officials for repairs, projected equipment repairs, replacement costs, and coordinate with other personnel as appropriate.
  • Review facility or system history utilizing history reports; discuss any current relevant issues with the building officer, reviewing computer/network generated work documents for any outstanding work, and determine contractual requirements for the facility.
  • Schedule and perform facility inspections in accordance with contractual requirements and government regulations.
  • Assist in the development of preventive maintenance schedules and programs to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and organizational policies regarding health and safety standards.
  • Provide detailed reports on inspection findings, outlining issues identified, corrective actions required, and timeline for resolution.
  • Manage and track discrepancies and maintenance requests through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve maintenance activities.
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff on inspection techniques and safety protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to minimize operational disruptions and ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
  • High school Diploma/GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Facility Maintenance or closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and maintenance practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift or move up to 70 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motions for several hours at a time.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, walking, standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of a vehicle, up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must persevere to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Requirements
  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain Tessera's insurance coverage.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ‑compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative (U.S. passport, military ) per the REAL .
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
