Tessera is seeking a licensed Fire Suppression Lead Technician to oversee inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler and suppression systems at a federal military installation. The role ensures code compliance, diagnoses and resolves system issues, maintains accurate records, and provides training and guidance to technicians while upholding safety and professionalism.
Typical Duties- Test and inspect building water-based fire protection systems.
- Test fire-related backflow assemblies and work toward qualifying as a WA state backflow specialty plumber (PL30).
- Perform scheduled maintenance on fire protection systems including AFFF Deluge, Low-Expansion Foam, Pre-Action, Dry, Water Mist and Spray, Pressure-Reducing Valves, and fixtures.
- Assist in adjustment, repair, or replacement of leaky joints, pipes, valves, and other equipment to maintain proper and efficient operation of all related fire protection systems.
- Adjust, repair, or replace support systems like compressors, nitrogen generators, vacuum air systems, and associated equipment.
- Investigate and repair obstructions and impairments.
- Apply all NFPA and UFC code requirements during installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Operate Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP) for required maintenance.
- Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
- Operate support equipment such as self-propelled boom lifts.
- Ensure all product and manufacturer requirements are met, and installations are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
- Ensure installations meet environmental protection requirements.
- Position may require call-back availability based on operational needs.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- 3-5 years’ experience in fire protection technology or a related field (preferred). An equivalent combination of experience and education is acceptable.
- Knowledge of local fire codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturer technical manuals, lubrication instructions, and water schematics during inspections.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
- Walk, climb in/out of a vehicle, and move up/down stairs as required.
- Work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
- A valid state driver's license is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain insurance coverage.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL‑ driver's license, U.S. passport, or military .
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
