Job Overview

Tessera is seeking a licensed Fire Suppression Lead Technician to oversee inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler and suppression systems at a federal military installation. The role ensures code compliance, diagnoses and resolves system issues, maintains accurate records, and provides training and guidance to technicians while upholding safety and professionalism.

Typical Duties
  • Test and inspect building water-based fire protection systems.
  • Test fire-related backflow assemblies and work toward qualifying as a WA state backflow specialty plumber (PL30).
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on fire protection systems including AFFF Deluge, Low-Expansion Foam, Pre-Action, Dry, Water Mist and Spray, Pressure-Reducing Valves, and fixtures.
  • Assist in adjustment, repair, or replacement of leaky joints, pipes, valves, and other equipment to maintain proper and efficient operation of all related fire protection systems.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace support systems like compressors, nitrogen generators, vacuum air systems, and associated equipment.
  • Investigate and repair obstructions and impairments.
  • Apply all NFPA and UFC code requirements during installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Operate Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP) for required maintenance.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment.
  • Operate support equipment such as self-propelled boom lifts.
  • Ensure all product and manufacturer requirements are met, and installations are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
  • Ensure installations meet environmental protection requirements.
  • Position may require call-back availability based on operational needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in fire protection technology or a related field (preferred). An equivalent combination of experience and education is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of local fire codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturer technical manuals, lubrication instructions, and water schematics during inspections.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
  • Walk, climb in/out of a vehicle, and move up/down stairs as required.
  • Work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Other Requirements
  • A valid state driver's license is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain insurance coverage.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL‑ driver's license, U.S. passport, or military .
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
