Compensation: $39.70 – $39.70/hr

We are seeking a Mechanic, Body/Fender who repairs damaged bodies and body parts of automotive vehicles, such as automobiles, buses, and light trucks, according to repair manuals. Using hand tools and power tools, this position removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat‑operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fender. The mechanic aligns panels, restorates dents, refines surfaces, and paints as required.
TypicalDuties
- Remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills using wrenches, cutting torch, bolts or welds replacement; straighten bent frames using hydraulic jack and pulling device; file, grind and sand repaired surfaces with power tools.
- Refinish repaired surfaces using paint spray gun and sander; chamfer headlights, align wheels, bleed hydraulic brake system; perform body repairs and paint work.
- Ensure vehicles are safe, operational, and present a sightly appearance.
- Accurately replace parts and conduct necessary adjustments.
- Ensure proper storage or disposal of exchanged items.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely; keep the Vehicle Maintenance Facility well kept.
- Comply with all Quality Assurance Programs.
- Stay knowledgeable of applicable federal, state, corporate, and site rules and regulations, labor agreements, and site‑wide policies.
- Participate in worker involvement and provide input on work planning and methods.
- High school Diploma/GED
- Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive maintenance
- Able to communicate courteously and helpfully
- Able to respond to customer inquiries or complaints
- Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals
Employees must be able to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 150 pounds.
- Frequently reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motions for several hours at a time.
- Perform repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; stand or sit for several hours; climb in and out of a vehicle and up and down stairs.
- Work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
- A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
