Truck Driver operates a tractor/trailer and transports personnel and products, utilizing public roads and highways throughout Naval Base Kitsap. The driver may perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.
Duties & Responsibilities- Drives vehicles of seven‑ton load capacity and larger on long and short hauls, including tractor/trailer combinations to transport personnel, articles, and materials throughout the base and on public roads and highways.
- Ensures that cargo is properly loaded and secured and that vehicle is not loaded beyond capacity.
- Operates winch when vehicle is equipped, completes trip tickets and preventive maintenance service records, and fills out driver’s accident report in case of accident.
- Performs driver’s maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- May occasionally drive other type and size vehicles if qualified and licensed, when required by the workload. Performs related duties as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Completing all mandated training requirements by government and management directives.
- Timely and cost‑effective performance of duties.
- Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
- Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
- Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Two years’ driving experience in seven‑ton or larger capacity vehicles in a professional capacity with a safe driving record.
- Possess a valid and current Washington State Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License with HAZMAT (H) and Tank (N) endorsement, or Combination of Tank and Hazardous Materials (X) Endorsement procured through the Washington State Department of Licensing > minimum.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess a current completed HME (Hazardous Materials Endorsement) Background Check from the US Transportation Security Agency. Must have been fingerprinted for the HME.
- Commercial Driver’s Training must comply with Federal Regulations and Washington State requirements.
- Possess a valid and current Washington State Department of Transportation Medical Card.
- Have at least one year experience in the operation of 6,000 to 15,000 lb. capacity forklifts.
- Possess Forklift Safety Training consisting of general classroom-type formal training, site-specific hands‑on practical training, and a visual evaluation of skill.
- Meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required.
- Obtain and maintain required explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations.
- Possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
- Successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
