Tessera is seeking a reliable Heavy Truck Driver to provide safe and efficient trucking services at Naval Base Kitsap (Bangor). This role includes operating tractors with semi‑trailers, full trailers, trucks with dolly converters, and specialized vehicles such as fuel tankers. You will be responsible for transporting heavy equipment, oversized loads, and materials while maintaining safety and compliance.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:- Follow industrial safety guidelines, apply safety training and promote safe workplace culture at all times.
- Operate tractors and semi‑trailers, tractors and full trailers, trucks with dolly converters, fuel tankers, and full trailers; transport heavy construction equipment and overweight and oversized loads.
- Provide medium trucking service for trucks less than 24,000 lbs.
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Ensure equipment is fully operational before each shift.
- Clean the vehicle and service the vehicle with fuel.
- Keep accurate trip logs.
- Maintain radio or telephone contact with a base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new locations.
- Keeps records of materials and products transported.
- Secure cargo for transportation.
- Assist in the warehouse in the receiving, stock, or issue section.
- Position may be subject to call‑back availability based on operational needs.
- High school Diploma/GED is required.
- 3–5 years’ experience operating vehicles.
- Must possess a valid US Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card.
- Must have current or be able to obtain a Medical Examiners Certificate (DOT Card) before hire.
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
- A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL –compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military , in accordance with the REAL .
