Position SummaryThe Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas. This role supports the overall material handling operations necessary for the Goodwill supply chain.
Pay Rate: $16.82 per hour
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Remove and sort salvage material and garbage from sellable goods.
- Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.
- Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.
- Use cardboard compactors and identify problems.
- Maintain donor tallies.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; report any potential hazards or accidents.
- Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- If applicable:
Consistent and safe execution of duties associated with forklift operation when certified to Seattle Goodwill standards. - Minors:
Are not allowed to use or perform any job duties with heavy machinery or compactors. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required.
- No prior experience required.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations
- Seattle Goodwill Forklift certification optional; must meet eligibility requirements if applicable.
Physical Abilities
The employee will be required to lift and carry up to 30‑40 pounds, stand for long periods, frequently bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, push, climb ladders, and travel across varied surfaces. Clear verbal and written communication is required, including with individuals who have limited English proficiency. Reliable attendance is essential.
