The Staff Accountant supports the Northridge Site Finance and Accounting department and is responsible for ensuring accounting transactions are processed and posted accurately and timely in a variety of areas. It is essential that the candidate brings strong analytical and organizational skills to best support the team.
Responsibilities- Prepare month end journal entries manually and review for anomalies and inconsistencies
- Prepare monthly inventory account reconciliations and identify why any unreconciled variances exist
- Analyze and evaluate weekly manufacturing variances including PPV, labor/OH absorption, and inventory valuation and implement timely adjustments. Collaborate with the manufacturing operations to analyze variance and drive improvements
- Assist in developing standard costs for materials, labor and overhead
- Prepare month end journal entries manually and review for anomalies and inconsistencies
- Prepare monthly inventory account reconciliations and identify why any unreconciled variances
- Assist in developing an inventory reserve and perform monthly analysis
- Develop plant expense guidelines to ensure correct classification of controlled expenses
- Assist in budget and forecast preparation and ensure timely completion
- Assist with annual financial audits as it relates to inventory and standard costs
- Perform cost-benefit analyses as needed
- Perform review/audit of cycle count process with Supply Chain quarterly
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements
- Support monthly and year-end financial close
- Support for year-end financial audit
- Monitor policies and procedures for compliance and suggest modifications and improvements
- Maintain effective internal controls and compliance with accounting standards and procedures
- Ad hoc reporting and projects as required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting/finance or related field
- Public accounting experience with a CPA certificate
- 2+ years relevant work experience in accounting or cost accounting in private sector
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics (D365)
- Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- Able to communicate with professionals at all levels and with various professional backgrounds
