A publicly traded manufacturer in the San Fernando Valley is looking for a Controller to join their team. In this role, the Controller will be responsible for process improvement, scaling the business, and training and development. To be successful in this role, the Controller should be able to roll up their sleeves, be a mentor, and be able to work in a fast‑paced and high‑growth environment.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 20+ years of accounting experience
- Active CPA
- Must have public accounting experience
- Strong in technical accounting
- Current or very recent public company experience
- Manufacturing and inventory accounting experience a plus
- Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and the monthly close
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Review and approve accounting treatments for complex or non-routine transactions
- Own the development, documentation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures
- Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on technical accounting matters under US GAAP
- Research, interpret, and apply new and evolving accounting standards (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, stock‑based compensation, business combinations)
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos and position papers to support accounting conclusions
- Partner with external auditors on technical accounting issues and judgmental areas
- Own inventory accounting across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
- Oversee standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methodologies
- Ensure proper accounting for BOMs, overhead absorption, scrap, and manufacturing variances
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to strengthen inventory controls and processes
- Design and implement strong internal controls and accounting frameworks appropriate for a scaling organization
- Lead external audits, reviews, and tax compliance efforts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements
- Support implementation of SOX‑ready controls as the company grows
- Lead ERP and accounting system implementations or enhancements
- Build scalable, repeatable accounting processes to support growth, new products, and expansion
- Drive automation, efficiency, and data integrity across the accounting function
- Build, develop, and lead a high‑performing accounting team
- Partner closely with FP&A, Operations, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance leadership
