Teacher Assistant/Adult Assistant/possible van driver or aide, 30-50 hours per week at Dubnoff School.

Driver/Teaching Assistant/Adult Assistant Needed at Dubnoff School, a nonpublic special education school in Northridge, California. Our School serves 6-12th grade students with behavior, emotional, learning challenges, and some students on the spectrum. Positive environment with positive behavior rewards for students. We have 40 staff for 60 students.

  • We are certified by the State Department of Education and work with students from districts and charter schools. This is our 39th year of serving students with special needs!
  • $19-$22 per hour depending on education and experience.
  • Supervise students during lunch so you are paid for your lunchtime.
  • 5-10 hours a week of possible overtime, if you chose to drive or be an aid in the van.
  • Might be able to keep van at your home to use to pick up students, if you chose to drive!
  • Staff working on AA degrees can earn $750 a year toward tuition and books and those with an AA working on BA degrees can earn up to $1,000 a year.
  • Staff can earn an additional $1000.00 bonus after completing six months of employment. This money will be distributed over the following 5 months, after completion of the first 6 months, at $200 per month.

Valley High School and Learning Center operates two private special education schools in the Los Angeles Area, Hawthorne Academy (located in Hawthorne) and Dubnoff School (located in Northridge) and has been in business for 39 years. Both schools are certified by the state of California to provide special education services to students in grades 5-12. We serve students with a variety of disabilities including specific learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, behavior and emotional problems, cognitive disabilities, and some on the autistic spectrum.

Our school has a high staff to student ratio of at least 1 staff for every three to four students. The philosophy of the school is to provide a structured and nurturing environment. We use a two-tiered positive reinforcement system. This system reinforces attendance, work productivity and behavior. Each classroom has one special education teacher and at least two assistants with strong administrative support.

Additional support is provided by our counseling and behavior staff. All staff are part of a team that works together to address the challenges our students face. In addition to regular supervision from teaching and administrative staff there are weekly staff meetings, monthly in-services and additional training opportunities. School hours are 7:45-1:45 pm and drivers hours are generally between 6-4pm.

Students are on our school campuses during the regular school year from 7:45 AM to 1:45 PM.
