MainDuties & Responsibilities
Principal Responsibilities:
In this position you must be able to align and fit together fabricated plates, structural shapes and weldments preparatory to assembly - structural fabricated products and must be able to weld different metals to blueprint.
- Individual must maintain their certification stamps
- Must be able to weld all materials to X-Ray specifications
- Must possess the ability to work to close tolerances
- Must be able to work to standards within operations and have the ability to make shop aids to increase production standard, if needed
- Must be able to build ducts without supervisor’s assistance
- Must be capable of training other employees
- Must be responsible for quality of workmanship
- Must be able and willing to perform all duties of lesser classifications in both the welding and fitting disciplines
- Prepare and fit both compound and complex duct assemblies
- Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment
- Perform other routine duties
- Must be certified in accordance with 10QP040
- Record SPC data in accordance with 10QP063
And other duties as assigned
QualificationsMinimum Education /
Experience:
3 year exposure in metal fitting as a Fitter “A” and necessary training to qualify for welding parameters and or 3 years experience as a Welder with fitter training. Must pass a written and practical test. Test will be based on requirements contained within this job description.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as Blueprints, manufacturing planning, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals - Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate in the English language
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Certification stamps in both welding and fitting a must
Essential Physical/Mental Abilities
Required:
Employee is regularly required to stand, reach with hands and arms, required to walk and sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear, and climb and dismount both stairs and platforms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this job, the individual may be required to wear safety protection gear.

The pay range for this position is from $23.00 to $39.00 (hourly).
