Value Stream Manager

This opportunity is located within our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company business, a global leader of mission‑critical hardware and systems solutions including precision energetics systems and innovative explosive solutions.

Value Stream Manager - Linear & Transfer Systems This position is located in Simsbury, CT and will report to the Operations Manager.

The Linear and Transfer Systems Value Stream Manager (VSM) is a strategic role with full responsibility for leading the operations activities and ensuring the Value Stream meets the required customer and business commitments. The VSM manages the production, quality and engineering resources in the Value Stream, has oversight of the Value Stream's procurement resources and is accountable for supporting energetic development programs.

• Adherence to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost Metrics for Programs within the Value Stream.
• Driving analysis of KPI variances, daily countermeasures and monthly systemic root cause and corrective action efforts.
• Relentless pursuit of continuous improvement through the Ensign-Bickford Operating System (EBOS).
• Developing and mentoring team members to operate in a lean environment and to be capable of making decisions.
• Working with functional leads to ensure they are performing comprehensive capacity planning and maintaining sufficient resources to support the Value Stream demand.
• Prioritizing Production, Quality, Test and Logistics resources within the Value Stream.
• Supporting product transitions from development to production.
• Implementing supply chain strategies to reduce program lead times.
• Overseeing production planning and scheduling activities and ensuring preparation for leadership operating reviews.
• Managing Value Stream's budgets and holds staff accountable for adherence to company policy.
• Championing a positive and motivating environment with a culture of teamwork and engagement.

• BS Degree in an Engineering Discipline, Operations Management or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, verbally and in writing, to individuals at all levels and to cross-functional groups.
• Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
• Effective employee management skills including the ability to motivate people, particularly in a mixed development and production workforce environment.
• Robust strategic thinking and planning skills, with ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and challenges.
• Good working knowledge of computer applications such as ERP/MRP, proficient in MS Office Suite:
  Project, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
• LEAN Manufacturing concept and supply chain strategy implementation experience.
