The Reliability Engineer will lead qualification and testing for silicon photonics and co-packaged optics (CPO) products. This role drives failure analysis, reliability modeling, and continuous improvements in product quality and long-term stability. Partnering closely with design and manufacturing teams, the Reliability Engineer ensures that products meet rigorous standards for durability and performance across their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Own reliability qualification and quality assurance activities for silicon photonic chips, optical engines, CPO optical modules, and optoelectronic devices.
Develop reliability qualification plans, test conditions, acceptance criteria, and validation procedures based on Telcordia GR-468-CORE reliability requirements for optoelectronic devices.
Execute optoelectronic reliability tests including High Temperature Operating Life (HTOL), High Temperature Storage (HTS), Temperature Cycling (TC), Temperature Humidity Bias (THB), and mechanical stress tests.
Evaluate lifetime reliability of CPO optical engines and key components, including lasers, MZMs, MRMs, PDs, TIAs, drivers, and related optoelectronic devices.
Monitor optical and electrical performance during reliability testing, including optical power, insertion loss, extinction ratio, wavelength shift, PD responsivity, dark current, BER, and other critical parameters.
Perform reliability failure analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions based on GR-468 requirements and test results.
Build reliability databases and perform Weibull analysis, lifetime prediction, and reliability modeling.
Drive reliability improvement activities with design, process, packaging, and test teams to improve product robustness and long-term stability.
Support reliability qualification throughout EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production stages for CPO products.
Work with customers on reliability reports, qualification reports, and reliability data reviews.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or above in Electronics, Optoelectronics, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science, Reliability Engineering, or related fields.
3+ years of reliability engineering experience in semiconductor, optical communications, optical modules, or optoelectronic devices.
Strong knowledge of Telcordia GR-468-CORE reliability requirements for optoelectronic devices, with experience developing reliability qualification plans based on GR-468.
Experience with optical product reliability qualification, including HTOL, HTS, Temperature Cycling, THB, HAST, Mechanical Shock, and Vibration testing.
Understanding of optoelectronic device reliability mechanisms, including:
Laser aging and lifetime prediction;
PD responsivity and dark current degradation;
Heater aging;
Optical power degradation and wavelength shift.
Experience with optical module/CPO reliability qualification processes, including EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production introduction.
Experience in reliability data analysis, including Weibull analysis, FIT rate, MTBF, and lifetime prediction.
Experience operating reliability test equipment, including environmental chambers, humidity chambers, burn-in systems, optical measurement equipment, and electrical test equipment.
Knowledge of semiconductor and optoelectronic failure analysis methods, including SEM, X-ray, cross-section analysis, and FA techniques.
Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, JMP, Minitab, or Python is preferred.
Experience with CPO, 800G/1.6T optical modules, silicon photonics, optical engines, or high-speed optical communication products is preferred.
Strong analytical skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
