Overview
The Head of Accounting holds a pivotal role and is responsible for strategically overseeing and managing the entire accounting function and retail finance operations across Singapore. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, SEAO, the incumbent will be instrumental in managing and providing strategic direction for key financial areas including comprehensive Accounting practices, meticulous Financial Reporting, efficient Retail Finance Operations, Treasury management, adherence to Tax regulations, and rigorous Auditing processes.
This role ensures the integrity of financial data, supports business growth, and maintains compliance with all relevant local and international standards.
- Lead Financial Operations:
Oversee and manage the financial accounting and retail finance operations team, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial transactions and records. This includes managing daily operations, month-end, and year-end closing processes. - Financial Reporting:
Direct the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with applicable financial reporting regulations and accounting standards as well as Group standards. - Financial Governance:
Own and promote robust financial governance, continuously adapting to new Accounting and Tax regulations while providing a reliable framework and guidance. Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. - Compliance Management:
Drive statutory and tax compliance, including management of financial statements and other regulatory submissions. Act as the primary contact for external auditors and tax authorities, ensuring all requirements are met. - Process Improvement:
Actively lead process improvement initiatives, streamline standard operating procedures, and leverage new technologies (e.g. automation tools) to enhance operational efficiencies and improve data accuracy within the accounting function. - Team Development:
Foster organisational development aligned with company objectives, with a strong focus on the growth and development of team members. This includes mentoring, performance management, succession planning, and creating a collaborative and high-performing work environment. - Stakeholder Liaison:
Liaise effectively with Richemont Group Accounting, Group Tax, Group Treasury, Regional Finance, Internal and External Auditors, and Tax Consultants on all aspects of accounting, treasury, audit, and tax inquiries, as well as addressing critical issues and providing strategic financial advice.
- Business Management:
Ability to effectively manage day-to-day business transactions, summarise complex financial data, and oversee projects. Possesses strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking to align financial operations with business objectives. - Regulatory Adaptability:
Capacity to independently and continuously adapt to new Accounting and Tax regulations, proactively monitoring changes, interpreting their impact, and providing a clear framework and guidance for implementation. - Financial Reporting:
Mastery of accounting standards to ensure compliance in all financial statements. Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. - Stakeholder Management:
Proficient in navigating a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders. Excellent influencing and communication skills to build strong relationships and drive consensus across various internal and external parties. - Leadership
Skills:
Strong leadership and people management abilities to attract, retain, and develop talent within the team. Demonstrates strategic vision, empowers team members, and effectively manages change and conflict. - Resource Planning:
Expertise in planning and organising financial and human resources to meet various concurrent functional requirements. - Process Efficiency:
Proven track record in driving efficient business and accounting processes through the application of lean methodologies, technology adoption, and a continuous improvement mindset. - Transformation Initiatives:
Ability to lead simplification and transformation projects effectively, from conceptualization and planning to execution and benefits realization, ensuring smooth transitions and successful outcomes.
- Degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional experience qualifications.
- 10 years extensive experience in accounting and finance roles, with a significant portion in a leadership or management capacity.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to meet tight deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Experience in the luxury goods or retail industry is highly valued.
