The Kamigaki Lab is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team and investigate how the brain controls executive function, the set of cognitive abilities that let us plan, make flexible decisions, and guide behavior toward goals.
Our ResearchWe study the neural circuit mechanisms of executive function in mice. Our approach combines dual-color calcium imaging, optogenetics, chemo genetics, and electrophysiology to link neural activity to behavior across scales, from local circuits in the prefrontal cortex to brain-wide networks. A central focus is understanding how executive function declines with aging and in psychiatric disorders. By identifying where and how these circuits break down, we aim to uncover the fundamental operating principles of executive control and lay the groundwork for future therapeutic strategies.
