Medical Social Worker

Responsibilities

• Deliver social work-based interventions, including counselling, emotional support, and practical assistance to patients and their families.
• Provide medical social services to help patients and families manage the social, psychological, and financial impact of illness.
• Collaborate with the Psychosocial Services team to identify areas of need and assist in the coordination of support programmes.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure holistic and integrated care for patients.
• Supervise social work undergraduates during their fieldwork placements, fostering professional growth and development.
• Oversee and guide the work of social service assistants to maintain service quality and effectiveness.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate support programmes that address the psychosocial needs of patients and families.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Postgraduate Certificate in Social Work (or with a major in Social Work).
• Practising Social Worker Accreditation by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong social casework intervention skills.
• Effective counselling abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
