Job Title: Feed Mill Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Feed Mill Maintenance Tech is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems in feed mill operations. This role supports the achievement of production goals through preventative and predictive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs, ensuring the proper functionality of machinery.

Essential Job Functions:

• Repair and perform basic maintenance on agriculture/industrial machinery, adhering to manufacturer recommendations and company SOPs.
• Identify root causes of mechanical and electrical issues, perform basic repairs, and notify personnel if further attention is required.
• Conduct unsupervised maintenance and routine checks on feed mill grain handling systems.
• Assist with maintaining blueprints, operating manuals, and procedures.
• Maintain records of preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Troubleshoot and replace or repair drive chains, gears, belts, pulleys, shafts, rollers, electric motors, and gearboxes.
• Maintain tools, ensuring cleanliness and good working condition; keep work area organized.
• Operate ALL-TERRAIN forklifts and standard man-lift equipment occasionally.
• Work safely, identifying and correcting unsafe conditions, report safety and quality issues.
• Work in confined areas and follow compliance, food safety, and biosecurity rules.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

• Technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with safety equipment such as LOTO, harnesses, and PPE.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Reading and comprehension skills for SOPs and instructions.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 75+ lbs.
• Must pass a pulmonary exam for respirator use.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional trade or technical school education in maintenance, mechanical, welding, electrical, or millwright.
• Maintenance experience in the feed mill or agriculture industry.
• Experience with safety/equipment such as LOTO, harnesses, lanyards, hoists, and PPE.
• Ability to work in various climate conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Walking, climbing (ladders and stairs), standing, and sitting for long periods.
• Work at heights up to 175’ and in confined spaces.
